Biography
Patrick is a Post-Doctoral researcher within the CoMo group working on the digital discovery of reticular complexes. He completed his undergraduate studies in chemistry at the Australian National University where he researched the synthesis and characterisation of self-assembled metal-organic cages, notably becoming well experienced in single-crystal x-ray diffraction and organic synthesis. Thereafter, he moved to the University of Southampton for PhD studies under the supervision of Professor Graeme Day focusing on the development of computational methods for crystal structure prediction, using a diverse array of techniques including classical simulations, density functional theory, and machine learning. Before joining CoMo he was a Post-Doctoral researcher at the Technical University of Denmark where he worked on algorithms for self-driving laboratories towards the discovery of nanoparticle electrocatalysts for the carbon dioxide reduction reaction. Patrick has strong interdisciplinary interests spanning computer science, synthesis, and computational chemistry.Research Themes
