Marcello Costamagna

Biography

Marcello is a Research Assistant in the Computational Modelling Group at the Department of Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology, University of Cambridge. He completed his Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry at the University of Padova and his Master’s degree in Physical and Computational Chemistry at the University of Pisa.

He has submitted his PhD thesis in Cheminformatics at the University of Bergen, with the defence forthcoming. His doctoral research focused on the development of cheminformatics methods for representing, handling, and optimising three-dimensional and metal-containing molecules, with applications in transition-metal catalyst design. His interests include molecular representation, de novo molecular design, evolutionary algorithms, and computational approaches for molecular and materials discovery.
