Extending stochastic soot simulation to higher pressures

Reference: Combustion and Flame 145(3), 638-642, (2006)

Abstract

The purpose of this communication is to extend the applicability of the work reported by M. Balthasar and M. Kraft in Combustion and Flame 133 (2003) pp. 289-298 to higher pressure flames. The original work was only applied to atmospheric-pressure flames in which the Knudsen number of the soot particles satisfied Kn > 10. The physical model for coagulation at lower Knudsen numbers is taken from other literature and the implementation relies on a new generalization of the concept of majorant kernel which is presented here. Fortran 90 source code implementing the newly extended simulation is freely available for download.
