Abstract

The goal of this work is to present a combined CFD-population balance method for simulation of two-phase liquid-liquid turbulent flows. In the framework of this approach the motion of the dispersed phase (i.e., droplets or bubbles) is described by Lagrangian method, while the flow field of the continuous phase is treated by Eulerian method. For validation of the numerical procedure the droplet size distribution and flow fields in a rotating disc contactor are calculated and compared with the existing experimental results.
